  • The Beaver Dam deposit is regarded as one of Acadian's principal projects and is being evaluated for potential open pit mining.

  • The property is located approximately 80 kilometres northeast of Halifax and consists of 36 contiguous mineral claims. Acadian holds a 100% interest in the property subject to a variable return NSR of between 0.6 – 3% dependant on average grade mined; an NSR of 0.6% would apply to anticipated open pit grades.

  • The property was the focus of limited underground development in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s and significant exploration and underground development was conducted in the late 1980’s, by third parties; a ramp currently extends to a depth of 105 metres. A total of 41,119 tonnes of material milled during the 1980's/90's yielded an average reconciled gold grade of 1.85 g/t.

  • Since 2005, Acadian has drilled 153 diamond drill holes on the Beaver Dam deposit, bringing the total to 390 surface drill holes totaling 69,881 metres.

  • The Beaver Dam deposit includes the Main Zone, the Mill Shaft Zone, and the Northeast Zone, with the majority of the resources located in the Main Zone. The Mill Shaft Zone occurs approximately 600 metres west of the Main Zone and presents further exploration potential. The Northeast Zone represents the interpreted faulted extension of the Main Zone and has received only limited evaluation.

  • Mineralization is confined to a thick (approximately 10-40m) argillite dominated interval, characterized by bedding-concordant quartz veins and attending alteration on the south overturned limb of the Beaver Dam Anticline.

  • The current resource evaluation was completed using historic underground sampling, historic drilling, and the first 133 drill holes drilled by Acadian. Additional diamond drilling in 2007 and 2009, that is not included in the resource evaluation, includes 20 drill holes totaling 4,105 metres. The primary objectives of this latest drilling were to expand the Main Zone along strike and at depth, and to increase the confidence level of the current resource through in-fill drilling. The drill results returned to date support the continuation of exploration and development efforts at Beaver Dam.

  • Metallurgical testing based on three large diameter (PQ) drill holes within the Main Zone confirmed excellent recovery by gravity (72-85%), with cyanidation of tails (83-93%) resulting in overall recovery of >95%. Heap leaching amenability tests were also positive, with results indicating 90% recovery in 49 days for 1/8 inch material.

  • Future work will include additional diamond drilling in the Main Zone, focusing on expanding the resource and improving the classification of inferred resources into the indicated category. Both the area between the Main Zone and the Mill Shaft Zone and the Northeast Zone present targets for additional resource, and will be further evaluated by drilling. Commencement of this program is anticipated to occur in 2012. Bulk sampling may be considered to support the integrity of the block model and a scoping study is planned to determine the general economics of the project. The scoping study will consider development of the Beaver Dam project and the Fifteen Mile Stream project, with a common milling facility somewhere between the two deposits.
