Fifteen Mile Stream

  • The Fifteen Mile Stream deposit is a key property for Acadian and is the current focus of Acadian’s gold activities. Previous drilling has established wide intervals of gold mineralization (e.g., 134.5m of 1.88 g/t Au) supporting bulk minable potential for the deposit.

  • The property is located approximately 100 kilometers east of Halifax, and only 20 kilometers east of the Beaver Dam deposit, consisting of three licences totaling 39 claims. Acadian holds 100% interest in the property, subject to a 1% NSR agreement on all claims and an additional 1% NSR on two claims.

  • Historic mining carried out between 1874 and 1941 targeted both narrow quartz veins and wide intervals of auriferous argillite. Significant exploration was undertaken on the property between 1985 and 1988 that included 136 diamond drill holes totaling 26,630 metres.

  • The deposit occurs in the hinge zone of the Fifteen Mile Stream Anticline, which is characterized by a domal structure in the deposit area. Historical work was concentrated in the Egerton-MacLean area at the eastern end of the dome. Mineralization is also established in the Hudson, Plenty and 149 East zones, and potential for additional deposits over a 3km strike length is favorable.

  • The resource estimate established for the Egerton-MacLean area is based on drilling completed prior to 1990, and confined largely to the mineralized Seigel and Orient argillite units. Sampling within the resource block was incomplete and un-sampled intervals were assigned zero grade. Results from recent sampling by Acadian of un-sampled intervals from available drill core within the resource zone yielded locally significant gold grades, suggesting the resource estimate is conservative. Drilling has not closed off the mineralized zones and further drilling is expected to increase the size of the Egerton MacLean resource block.

  • The 3,732 metre phase one diamond drill program conducted in 2011 was designed to identify additional mineralization in untested areas of the projected mineralized stratigraphy. The results returned clearly indicated that the expected mineralized stratigraphy exists outside of the current resource boundaries.

  • Approximately 3/4 of the 2011 drill program targeted the Egerton-McLean Zone (Main Zone), with the remainder of the program targeting the Hudson Zone, approximately 700 metres to the west where similar mineralized stratigraphy exits on the same fold structure. An extensive strike length measuring over 3 kilometres has been identified as having potential to host mineralization in the immediate Fifteen Mile Stream area.

  • An inferred resource estimate totalling 202,000 ounces of gold (3,796,650 tonnes grading 1.66 g/t gold) has been established on the Main Zone based on drilling completed in the 1980's (see "Technical Report and Resource Estimate on the Fifteen Mile Stream Gold Property, Halifax County, Nova Scotia", May 27, 2008). No gold resource has yet been quantified on the Hudson Zone.
